This job consisted of a simple handrail that aids in negotiating a set of steps into a sunken living area. There was no way to mount them near a wall with the existing layout of the room so we had to get creative with the shape and mounting so they would be very sturdy. The railing had to be low profile enough to to allow the homeowners to entertain guests during piano recitals they host. There was no off the shelf solution for this, so these railing were custom made. I think it shows that Aging in Place solutions can be attractive as well as functional.
